OUR PASTORS

Hope Church is lead by a team of Godly, mature men who fulfill the role of Elders as prescribed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. These men sacrificially lead the ministries of Hope Church and provide the Biblical Teaching and instruction during the regular Sunday services at Hope Church.

The Deacons of Hope Church serve the local church body through many, many avenues.  The Deacons are "lead-servants" among the other Covenant Partners of Hope Church. These men and women lead lives indicative of passionate Christ-followers and are highly regarded in their communities.

Lawson

One of the Founding Elders of Hope Church since 2016.  He and his wife Patti are keystone partners to many ministries in the Dade County area.

Matthew served as Hope Church’s interim teaching pastor until his installment

as the Lead Teaching Pastor of Hope Church on May 16, 2021.

Matthew and his wife, April, were married in 2004, and they have been blessed with two very rambunctious boys, Landon and Levi.

In 2003, Matthew came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, after a friend challenged him to read the gospel of John and prove that Jesus was not who He claimed to be. Confronted with the love and majesty of the Lord Jesus in the Gospel of John, Matthew was forever changed by the

grace of God in Jesus Christ and received Him as Savior and Lord.

Matthew and April desired to see a church planted in Trenton that valued expository preaching, authentic worship, and biblical community. To this end, they started a small Bible study in the old Morganville Elementary School building in Trenton. The Morganville School Bible study became a part of Hope Church, and Matthew was asked to serve as an elder and teaching pastor. Matthew’s passion is to see God’s people challenged, equipped, and transformed through the expository teaching of God’s Word so that through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ they may come to know Him and make Him known.

Born and raised on a farm in Indiana, Christian moved South in 1995 after completing his law degree and falling in love with an East Tennessee girl! It was that beautiful girl, Stacie, that he married a year later and they make their home in Chattanooga, TN, where they both practice law. Christian fully surrendered his life to follow Jesus Christ at the age of 25 after realizing he knew “church”, but not the Christ of the church. Over the years, Christian has worked with various churches in the areas of leading Men’s Ministry, establishing Small Groups, teaching Accountability Principles, working on the mission field with CRU, and Discipleship Training. If you ever receive a text from Christian, it will always end with a directive to, “Have a Great Day for Jesus!!!”. Also, when you ask him how he is doing, you will always hear back, “I’m blessed by the Best!”. The Lord gave Christian a saying many years ago that he uses in encouraging other Believers and in pointing others to Christ!!! The saying is,”I can never repay, but I can always respond by taking and sharing The Gospel here and beyond.”

Luke & Leah Willard and their two children are long-time partners at Hope Church.  Luke and Leah lead HopeYOUTH through expository teaching and mentorship.

Having been a regular church attendee his whole life, Luke accepted Christ one a Sunday evening at 11 years old. Throughout his younger years, Luke intentionally pursued relationships with many church leaders, preachers, and teachers while personally feeling called into a future preaching and teaching role. It has been through these relationships that Luke has been able to study and grow in His walk with Christ.

Luke and Leah married 2 years after high school and moved back to Leah's hometown Higdon, AL where they still reside.

The Willard Family accepted the leadership role of HopeYOUTH January 1, 2020.  Since then, HopeYOUTH has dug through books of the Bible as well as several "hot-button", in-depth topics.

Luke was asked to join the Elder Board in the Summer of 2021, where he continues to serve Christ in preaching and teaching through HopeEQUIP.
